9/25/2023 0 Comments Nerf helios remove valve![]() Sorry for the long post but I appreciate any help you guys can give! I'm looking forward to this new hobby. Can anybody suggest a good resource that is directly relevant to the Helios or Rival blasters in general for either barrel improvements or the proper way to do the tabs? Either way, I can't find much available on how to do it the RIGHT way for a Nerf rival blaster since many people seem to report inconsistent or poor performance after the mod. The rival blasters already seem to have tabs installed, so I don't understand if people are using alternative materials to make or add their own, or if they're just getting rid of them outright. I know they take advantage of the Magnus Effect, but that's more about range than accuracy. ![]() Are there barrel mods out there that are relevant to the Rival blasters and may improve accuracy? I am able to find very little that seems to apply to these guns other than what I think were called barrel tabs. Given that the barrels are not rifled and these blasters do not operate like real guns, I understand that only so much can be done to stabilize the round. Next is blaster accuracy itself I'm not considering what type of rounds I use for this discussion. Do any of you have experience with this and is there a reason I shouldn't do it? I included some images for reference. I speculate this this will allow the plunger to travel faster inside the cylinder because there is less pressure resistance buildup from the orifice part which will allow for more of the spring's potential energy to do work on the project itself. I'm tempted to open up the holes or create more of them to let air move more freely past this part into the barrel. It'd be sort of like putting a governor or speed limiter on a vehicle. ![]() I think this part it is an orifice which intentionally reduces air flow out of the cylinder to limit the projectile velocity. All the pressurized air must pass through and around this disk before reaching the barrel to actually push the projectile out. ![]() It appears the disk sub-assembly has two functions which are 1) seats the round correctly in the barrel when the plunger is primed, and 2) limits airflow out of the primed cylinder into the barrel while firing. While I was disassembling the cylinder I noticed that there is a disk with holes drilled into it in the bottom/barrel end. I believe the blaster components are made of PVC, so I might use some plumbing clement and spare plastic I have laying around to brace some of the components the spring acts on. I've only seen people throw in the 15kg rate springs so I thought I'd try to squeeze a little more out. Starting with velocity, I got an 18kg rate Worker spring which is sold for the Kronos but looks like it should be a drop-in fit. Mainly, I'm trying to improve the accuracy of the blaster, buy also the velocity/distance of the rounds. I'm in brand new territory and you guys are the experts here so I thought it'd be best to hit you up before I did anything too permanent. I got an upgraded spring and also bought the Worker pump-action kit. I just picked up a Rival Helios and am already at work on it. The TL DR is that I have a Rival Helios and want advice on accuracy and performance mods.Īs a 30-something year old "kid," I'm, a long time Nerf fan but am new to modding them.
